Hello all!
No surprise to anyone that knows me but I've, yet again, fallen ill to the changing of temperatures. Now that I'm (mostly) fully back to normal, I figured that since winter decided to kick my butt, I'd better get on that winter update!
Also somehow between when I posted the image carousel to Instagram, I managed to get another confirmed show lol... maybe my inability to type long periods of time due to passing out in bed was secretly a good thing.
Calico Cocoa Update
I'll have one show every single month on my current schedule, but I might also be at another show in early December, pending acceptance or rejection rolling up at the end of this month.
You can view the full list of shows and who I'll be tabling with here in my Upcoming Shows tab.
If you're unable to come out to any of the shows I'll be at but still want to purchase my things, you can always visit my Etsy! Or, if you're more of an in-person sort of buyer, you can visit one of the brick and mortar stores I'm currently at:
Artisan MRKT
503 Parliament St A, Toronto, ON M4X 1P3
Now stocked with stamps and more kitties! Unfortunately had to take the smaller sticker books out but you can still grab the larger ones :)
Paper Marché
132 Ahrens St W, Kitchener, ON N2H 4C7
I only recently got to visit Paper Marché and the store is really quaint and cute! My stuff is located both at the back of the store (on the top shelf) as well as at the front on the display table. Also highly recommend the desserts by the cash register. Very yummy.
Sudbury Artisans Collective
158 Elgin St, Greater Sudbury, ON P3E 3N5
I'm not currently in stock as of posting this little update, but I'm currently packing up the stock to have it sent up as I'm finalizing this update so hopefully it'll be there by November at the latest but preferably before the snow starts setting in! 🥹
What's New
I'm currently working on a new set of things, with the main theme being lanterns with flowers. This is one of the very early pictures of production where it's mostly filled in, but still needs the final plating and a special enamel fill for the "windows" of the lantern still! It's supposed to be a transparent glow-in-the-dark effect.
It sadly won't be here in time for my October market or Halloween. But it should be here in time for my November and December markets... Hopefully.
If not, I guess the matching wrist lanyards will be a January project 🫣
I'm also working on a Canada-only e-commerce site. It's being run through Canada Post and only does shipping through them (which I imagine is why they made the e-commerce website). You might have seen me post about it here:
Admittedly, I haven't had the time to work on it but I'm going to try and force in some time between everything else because I am genuinely curious how it works. Of course, I'll also have my Etsy available for anyone who prefers to order through there or is from, well, anywhere outside of Canada! But I'll have much cheaper pricing on my items that are being hosted through the Canada Post platform since the fees aren't as bad as Etsy's.
I'll see how it goes and maybe write a review on it; I'm hoping to get it finished and up and running before November rolls around since the holidays are coming up.
Other news that's tangentially related: I'm planning on temporarily pausing my shops while I'm away in February into March Comicon (since quite frankly the stock counting during and after Comicon is always pretty dire lol). I'll be off in Japan for two weeks during the later half of February; it'll be my first "just for me and not for a show of any sort" vacation in a while so I'm pretty excited about it to say the least! But I'll make an actual post about the shop pause in February.
Speaking of the Japan trip, before it happens I'm planning on launching some more bird-shaped things before I close the shop. I'm actually travelling to Japan to see this very specific round friend and will be making them into a calendar as well as some other things. Here's a little sneak peak of my very chaotic measurements and blocking:
Those who are familiar with the types of birds I tend to enjoy drawing can probably guess what very popular tiny round winter bird this is (even if the footprints are very wrong lol) but for the rest of you, I hope you can wait in suspense!
Okay, that's it for now! Enjoy the rest of your pre-winter and deep winter seasonal holidays and STAY TOASTY ❄️
